QazETA: what road hauliers should know before entering Kazakhstan

The first QazETA stage is scheduled from 1 November 2026 at Aktau airport and the Urlyutobe, Aukhatty, Atameken and Nurly Zhol road crossings. During the transition, missing authorisation is not grounds for refusing entry; mandatory enforcement is scheduled from 1 July 2027.

With supporting documents, international freight drivers, including those in transit, are exempt where the permitted total vehicle weight including its trailer exceeds 6 tonnes or permitted payload including its trailer exceeds 3.5 tonnes.

Before departure, check eligibility and supporting documents. Do not assume every goods vehicle qualifies.
