Nur Zholy: initial results of a vehicle rerouting pilot
On 16 October 2026, the Zhetisu regional administration’s press service reported a 30% reduction in the load on the Nur Zholy border checkpoint. Under the pilot, vehicles are rerouted to the Khorgos International Centre for Border Cooperation special economic zone. Its management company reported that more than 8,000 vehicles were rerouted between 7 and 14 October.

What the figure means
The 30% figure concerns checkpoint load, not individual delivery times. The announcement does not specify crossing times for individual vehicles.
What to consider when planning a shipment
If your shipment uses this crossing, confirm the arrangements for your specific journey. Do not reduce your time buffer or promise an earlier delivery solely on the basis of an overall figure.
Before dispatch, we recommend confirming:
- the checkpoint and facility planned for your vehicle;
- the address, arrival time and receiving contact;
- consistent cargo, weight, package count and consignee details across documents;
- how route or schedule changes will be communicated;
- the time buffer before warehouse receipt.
This is an editorial preparation checklist, not a new list of mandatory documents. Confirm arrangements for your particular shipment with the carrier and clearance specialist.
